I worked on improving key aspects of the user experience, focusing on the homepage, search functionality, and catalog browsing. The UX improvements aimed to streamline product discovery, contributing to overall sales growth and improved user satisfaction.
Challenge
With millions of items listed on the platform, Vinted’s homepage, search functionality, and catalog browsing experience were not optimized for efficiency or user engagement. The challenge was to identify critical areas for improvement, validate solutions through A/B testing, and ensure that the design changes positively impacted both seller success and user satisfaction.
Approach
Team Collaboration & Research
As a Product Designer, I worked within a multidisciplinary team focused on optimizing the user experience for home page, search functionality, and catalog browsing. Collaborating with the product owner and data analysts, we reviewed user behavior and data insights to prioritize areas for improvement.
Homepage UX Improvements
The homepage needed to engage users more from their first interaction. My focus was on creating few design variants with included favorite items and recommended brands and categories for A/B testing that encouraged browsing and increased seller success. We explored various design ideas and validated the best-performing solution.
Search Function Improvements
Understanding user intent during the search process was critical to enhancing the search experience. I worked with the data science team to identify patterns in user searches and updated the search functionality to deliver more relevant search suggestions and search results.
Catalog Browsing Optimization
Given the vast number of items listed on Vinted, catalog browsing was a key area to improve. I worked on designing and refining the browsing and filtering experience, making it easier for users to discover and explore products. These changes were integrated into Vinted’s design system to ensure consistency across the platform.
A/B Testing & Iteration
All design solutions were validated through A/B testing, helping to identify which versions improved seller success and overall marketplace performance. These iterative tests ensured that user experience improvements were backed by data.
